Privacy
AppQuay is run by Michael Taylor in the UK. This page says what we keep about you, why, who helps us run the site, and how to ask us to delete it. Questions or requests: b16yes@gmail.com.
What we keep, and why
- Forms (request an app, become a tester, waitlists): what you type, including your email, so we can reply. We use it for nothing else.
- Your account: your email, the name you give and a password (held by Google's sign-in service; we never see it). Needed to try apps, write reviews or list your work.
- Developers: your name and the short bio you write are shown publicly on your profile page, with everything you list. Your email is private.
- Reviews: your review is shown with your first name and the first letter of your surname. We keep a record that you tapped Try on an app, so only people who used it can review it.
- Pictures, music and animations developers upload, and the links they send.
- Testers: the devices you can test on, the kinds of apps you like and, if you give it, your town or region, so we only show you tests that fit. The developer of a test you join sees your first name and surname initial, your devices and your progress. Your email stays private.
- Clicks: we count taps on Try and form sends, without saying who tapped.
Checks, and who helps us
- Google Firebase runs the site, the sign-in and the database (stored in London).
- Anthropic (Claude) checks apps' pages, pictures, reviews, replies and bios for safety and copyright problems before people see them. It doesn't use them to train its models.
- Google Safe Browsing and VirusTotal check the links developers send for malware and phishing.
- Music and animation players come from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode), Vimeo, SoundCloud, Spotify and Bandcamp, which may set their own cookies when you press play.
- Testers who use the test walk-through cards also use Testers Walkthrough, which keeps their test answers and screenshots. When a developer connects their app, we give Testers Walkthrough only a code for each tester's link (never your name or email). It tells us which cards you answered, so we can give you points.
How long
Form messages: up to 12 months. Accounts, listings and reviews: until you delete them or ask us to. Records of our approval decisions: up to 6 years, in case of disputes.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email b16yes@gmail.com and we'll reply within a month. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site keeps a few small settings on your device (for example, that you're signed in, or which version of the site you have).
